Mid range hotel with pool and pleasant neighbourhood?

Excuse my ignorance, but I don%26#39;t know the area at all and my research thus far has left me overwhelmed with information overload.

Can anyone recommend a good mid range hotel (for a two night stay) with a nice swimming pool, and perhaps in an area that has some decent bars/restaurants/parks that are walkable from the hotel.

Will have a car, so parking needed, but would prefer to do a little exploring on foot if its possible, and hopefully discover a bit of the character of the city.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I%26#39;d stick with downtown hotels if you want a pool AND to be within walking distance to pubs %26amp; restaurants. The Galt House has a nice pool and they%26#39;ve done a remodel so I would imagine that the rooms are fine. There%26#39;s a new Marriott downtown also, but I haven%26#39;t seen the pool. (All downtown hotels will have ZIP code 40202)

If you can do without the pool, I%26#39;d take a look at the Bed %26amp; Breakfasts located in/around Old Louisville (just south of downtown) with more of a neighborhood %26amp; mature tree vibe.

Bardstown Road or Frankfort Ave. are the two main pub/restaurant row areas of Louisville. Unfortunately, there aren%26#39;t any hotels nearby.

There is one B%26amp;B in the heart of Bardstown Rd. It doesn%26#39;t have a pool, but you couldn%26#39;t get a better location. Here%26#39;s the contact info.

Best of luck.

Sounds like sterling advice. I%26#39;m digging the mature tree vibe, lol. I will check out those links pronto.

Many thanks!
