Newgarden Inn, Ft. Knox, KY

I%26#39;m planning a trip to Ft. Knox and need some feedback about the Newgarden Inn on the fort. I see info about the Wickam Inn but not Newgarden.

My wife and I went to Ft. Knox and had difficulty finding the Newgarden Inn. We ended up at the Wickam Inn. However, I saw the Newgarden Inn and would recommend you try them. Though we had a great stay at Wickam, the Newgarden is newer and therefore should be nicer. The post would do well putting up some signs at the gates to help us who don%26#39;t know the post locate lodging.

FYI: Our room at the Wickam had a separate sleeping area, nice TV room with couch and desk, and a decent bathroom. The Continental Breakfast was okay if you just want a little something to get you by. We were near an elevator. A little odd why we were placed there when there were few guests at the time. The carpet in the room was worn and needed to be replaced. The check-in and check-out went smoothly. On the negative side, the desk staff didn%26#39;t go out of their way to greet us. After a seven hour trip, one should get at least a ';Welcome to Ft. Knox!'; On a scale of 1-10, I would give it an eight considering the level of Inn it was. Not a bad stay.

I stayed at the Newgarden Inn and was absolutely stunned by the very nice accomodations. Since it is on the Military Base I wasn%26#39;t quite sure what I was going to get... I was thinking that for the price I was paying it may very well have been a cot in a room with a hotplate! The rooms were very beautifully equipped with a small kitchenette and if you are planning a trip - don%26#39;t hesitate! Great deal for the money and the hotel staff was very kind. I will say that when I first got there, I was planning on staying at the Wickham Inn. When I got there, I have to agree with another poster - the staff was not friendly AT ALL. Also when you go on to the base and if you have to be somewhere at an appointed time, map out your location the night before. It is very difficult to find anything!
