';Debuting in 2009, the Infield Club will be a temporary facility constructed in a secured area in the center of the infield for Derby weekend. The Club鈥檚 amenities will be a first for the infield area, including a giant horseshoe-shaped bar, private mutuel windows and self-serve betting machines, a JumboTron television, sports bar-style food offerings, a disc jockey, limited shaded seating areas available on a first-come, first-served basis, and upgraded restroom facilities.';
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Tickets run $150 and was wondering if this would be worth it. My 35 year old wife is in a wheelchair and I thought that this might be a better area (less roudy/more accessible) than the $40 infield chaotic scene? Or do you think it will be the same? Thanks!
Infield Club Derby 09
Yes, I think this would be an improvement. However, I think a wheelchair would be awkward and cumbersome overall in the infield. You still have to go through the throng to get there and it%26#39;s very stifling. I did it once, never again. It was horrible.
Infield Club Derby 09
I signed up for tickets to the Infield Club. It sounds like several steps up from the throngs of the general Infield area. At least I hope so.
Yes, it sounds pretty nice. We went ahead and ordered our tickets this past week so we%26#39;re getting excited now. I just hope it%26#39;s not too crowded and there%26#39;s room to maneuver the wheelchair. It would be nice to actually see the race too on the big screen that they say they have. We%26#39;ll see!
I also purchased tickets to the Infield Club.
Do you know if you are walking around on grass?
Do you think people will dress up, Derby Style, in this area?
Thanks
I doubt that people will get dressed up much. You%26#39;re still basically in the infield so I wouldn%26#39;t get all dressed up. I know I%26#39;m not. I have no idea if we%26#39;re on the grass or not....nothing was ever mentioned. It%26#39;s getting closer!
I plan to check with the venue on this shortly, I will post their answer.
Sounds nice. It is probably being set up where the rotunda is, which means you%26#39;ll still have to fight the crowds and some grassy areas. My aunt is in a wheelchair and I know if there%26#39;s rain the week or day of, it will be extremely difficult to get a wheelchair through.
