My husband and I will be touring the Bourbon Trail for a few days this October, and are trying to decide whether to stay in Louisville or Lexington? Does either city have a better restaurant/hotel scene than the other?
Thanks for any help.
Lexington or Louisville?
uh.....yes. Lexington has some lovely hotels and restaurants, but is more of a college town in feel, IMO. Not that I don%26#39;t love it. Louisville has some absolutely incredible restaurants for every taste. We also have many wonderful B%26amp;Bs and nice hotels. Of course, it depends on what you want, but if I were you, I%26#39;d check out 21C in downtown Louisville. The rather new Marriott is nice and we have historic hotels, the Brown and Seelbach as well. October is a beautiful month in our state and there are many activities such as the St. James Art Fair and Octoberfest.
Lexington or Louisville?
Louisville is bigger but Lexington has more charm (imo). Keeneland is running in October and would be well worth your time. Lexington is known as The Horse Capital of the World and has lots of beautiful scenery. There are several hotels downtown, which is where the good restaurants are, and my favorite is Gratz Park Inn. Jonathon%26#39;s is in Gratz Park Inn and is very good. Right around the corner is A la lucie%26#39;s a local favorite.
It really comes down to if you want a large city or a smaller city.
Lexington has a very vibrant arts scene and is much more than a college town!
