In town for three days, staying at the Campbell House. 27th Anniversery and wifes 50th B-Day. Would like ideas on good food and local favorites for good food. Breakfast lunch and dinner, live music, Jazz Brunch anything like that.
Lexington, Ky Where do you locals like to dine?
Johnny Carino%26#39;s Country Italian restaurant, Don Pablo%26#39;s mexican, Carrabba%26#39;s Italian, Max and Erma%26#39;s are just a few located off exit 108, I-75
Lexington, Ky Where do you locals like to dine?
I lived there for 5 years, so am sure there are additional new spots- but here%26#39;s where I would suggest:
%26#39;A la Lucie%26#39;s- downtown- very upscale dinner spot
Malone%26#39;s- Tates Creek- very good steak %26amp; seafood
Emmett%26#39;s- Tates Creek area- very good, upscale
Chop House- Richmond Road- very good steaks, etc.
Dudley%26#39;s- very good American food- downtown
Portofino%26#39;s- Italian- downtown
Bella Note- good italian cheaper- Nicholasville Rd.
Regatta Seafood- Nicholasville Road- my personal favorite!!
Hope all enjoy your stay. Let me know if you have more questions.
I%26#39;d have to say Joe Bolognas, Buddy%26#39;s, or Atomic Cafe.
I love Sal%26#39;s, Guiseppe%26#39;s, Malone%26#39;s, and Bellini%26#39;s.
For a more casual atmosphere, I prefer to go to Cheapside, Puccini%26#39;s, Gumbo Ya-ya, or Pazzo%26#39;s.
Have fun!
I%26#39;ll second Malone%26#39;s, Joe Balogna%26#39;s, and Regatta%26#39;s.
As for chains, you just can%26#39;t beat the food at Carraba%26#39;s!
DeSha%26#39;s downtown is kind of a neat atmosphere as well.
Halls on the River is good. You have to try their beer cheese. Great entrees too! It%26#39;s a little bit of a drive outside of Lexington and it%26#39;s on the Kentucky River. It%26#39;s well worth the drive!
I have lived here for 16 years and there are quite a few places to choose from. I live right around the corner from the Campbell House and they actually have a pretty nice restaurant themselves called Kilbern%26#39;s.
I tend to shy away from chain restaurants, especially when I am in a new town or out for a special occasion. I would agree with some of the other posts about their picks, but 2 places that have not been mentioned that I feel are outstanding for an intimate dinner are:
Bistro 147...small and quaint, attentive service, good prices, nice view of courthouse and fountain downtown
Metropol...I found the food and service excellent. The owner is frequently on the premises talking to customers. The building is downtown and is older, but refurbished beautifully.
Some of these may have been mentioned, but a few others:
Rossi%26#39;s, Jonathan%26#39;s, Portofino, Bellini%26#39;s, Dudley%26#39;s, Holly Hill Inn, Nadine%26#39;s, and Harvest are all excellent.
ANY Japanese recommendations from a local?

Jonathan%26#39;s at Gratz Park Inn is exceptional. It%26#39;s Southern food, but much more classy and imaginative than the typical regional fare. Sunday brunch is very nice; if the weather is nice ask for an outside table.
Other favorites in the downtown area are Metropol, a la lucie and Annabelle%26#39;s.
For steak, go to Malone%26#39;s in Lansdowne Shoppes on Tates Creek Road. Another southside favorite is Rossi%26#39;s on Chinoe Road.
Unless you are aching for a crowded chain restaurant, avoid everything in the Hamburg area (I-75 at Man o War Boulevard) or the Fayette Mall area (Nicholasville Road).
